Faith Affirmed is a Catholic group that focuses on affirming knowledge of the faith in both head and heart. Open to anyone typically in their 20s/30s or 40s, we meet each Monday in an informal setting and openly question and share our faith so our spiritual lives come alive.
Each meet up is made up of 3 parts.
The first part of the evening involves sharing our reflections on specific scripture passages. We share how it relates to our lives today and what personal message God wants us to hear.
The second part is spent exploring the 'what' and 'why' of the many beliefs of the Catholic faith (usually through video and discussion).
Finally, for those who can stay a bit later, we finish with a rosary for our own special intentions.
Psalm 32:8 "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you".
The carism of the group is to fully come to know and understand the Church's teachings and challenge ourselves to take God's word and put it into practice.
The ultimate goal is to affirm our faith by living it and in doing so, give glory to God and live His plan for our lives.
1 Peter 2:21 "For to this you have been called because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his footsteps".
It can be a rare thing today to find friends with whom we are comfortable with to mention 'God' or discuss our spiritual journey. Yet God intended us to walk alongside others and encourage each other so we can feel connected and grow together as part of a community and a united Church.
Romans 1:12 " That we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith".
