'Faith ' is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" (Hebrews 11:1). It is a discipline that needs to be practiced and no component of the Christian life is more important. To ' affirm ' means to give it a "YES". It expresses a valued relationship between the person and what is affirmed. God constantly affirms His love and His people so in response we should seek to affirm Him; and affirm each other in our spiritual journey.

We are a Catholic group run by lay people. Together we strive to understand scripture and overcome 'religious illiteracy' by coming to know the meaning of the mysteries and pillars of the Catholic faith. We invite anyone, typically aged in the 20's, 30's and 40's, who might be new to the faith / who want to re-discover their faith or those who want to deepen their faith, to join us.

God Affirms Us

  - by creating us and bringing us into the world

 - by making us in His Divine image

 - by making us free

 - by keeping us alive and allowing us to pro-create

 - by coming as a human person to live among us

 - by dying and rising so we could share His glory forever

 - by sending His Spirit to live within us to guide us.

"Because you are precious in my eyes, and honoured, and I love you" (Isaiah 43:4)

We Affirm God

  • by using His own inspired scriptures
  • by expanding our knowledge of His teachings and the teachings of His church
  • by putting our faith into practice

In this way, we are strengthened, empowered, made firmer in our faith and equipped to interface with an unbelieving world.

By attempting to live our faith, do His will and become witnesses, we affirm God...and in the process, we ourselves are also affirmed.

We Affirm Each Other

Everybody desires to be affirmed. Look at how many people obsessively take selfies and share videos or stories of themselves online and wait for the Facebook thumbs-up, Instagram hearts or Twitter likes. Many seek compliments and praise in superficial areas and in transient ways. While it is human nature to desire to be affirmed, God wants us to affirm each other in a Christ-like way, a more authentic and long-lasting way.

Jesus calls His followers to affirm each other in much the same way as He has affirmed us. The Holy Spirit affirms us by giving us gifts to build others up and bare fruit. It is healthy to desire to be affirmed by each other in faith. It is admirable to desire to be affirmed by God in all that we are and do.

"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up just as you are doing" (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
